Peak Oil and a Changing Climate

Posted by Cosimo on 08 Feb 2011 | Tagged as: From the Editors, In the World, Climate Change

The Nation magazine presents “Peak Oil and a Changing Climate,” a new video series, jointly with On the Earth Productions.

In this series, Bill McKibben, Noam Chomsky, Nicole Foss, Richard Heinberg and other scientists, researchers and writers are being interviewed “describing the diminishing returns our world can expect as it deals with the consequences of peak oil, even as it continues to pretend it doesn’t exist. These experts predict substantially increased transportation costs, decreased industrial production, unemployment, hunger, and social chaos as the supplies of the fuels on which we rely dwindle and eventually disappear.”

This series starts with the first video, titled “Peak Oil and a Changing Climate” (also below), and is followed by weekly videos thereafter. For some good backgroundreading we recommend: Crude Oil: A Strategy for Declining Oil Supply by the U.S. General Accountability Office (released by Cosimo Reports) and Earth Fever, Living Consciously with Climate Change, published by Cosimo Books.
