History, tradition, and an overwhelming amount of cases all point to needing a traditional publisher to sell big. But, as Amazon takes a slice of the publishing pie, we see the dynamic shift and the old traditions slipping through the cracks to a place where they may soon be forgotten. The article “Amazon Signs Up Authors, Writing Publishers Out of Deal” on the New York Times website reports that Amazon will be publishing 122 books this fall, some as e-books and some physical books. This number puts Amazon in competition with the publishing powerhouses. Though they’re remaining mum about the amount of editors they’ve hired and books they’ve acquired, this number suggests they are about to challenge the structure of publishing as we know it. Amazon executive Russell Grandinetti, quoted in the article, basically says that the only people that matter in publishing anymore are the writers and the readers. So what does that say about the publishing houses, whose sole purpose is to act as the stage between writers and readers? What does that say about the future of the publishing business? Read “Amazon Signs Up Authors, Writing Publishers Out of Deal” to find out.

WHAT OTHERS SAY:
“I have taken many workshops, but this workshop “Meeting the Mystery of Money” is within my heart as the single most powerful experiential workshop I have taken to date. This 2 day intensive works on a cellular level and has completely regenerated my experience with money. My personal experience with money in the past was not that I held no value toward it. I could see that I was, in fact, not holding enough “value” for myself and my work in the world, where money was concerned. Immediately following the workshop I began to incorporate the “blue pot” into my work. I have doubled my earnings in very little time. In short, my world has been transformed.”
Deborah Cameron, Ontario, Canada
“I rarely sign up for workshops, but I felt these very Earth-connected chosen guides are fulfilling the seed of building a new paradigm community. This workshop brought my fears around money to a higher clarity for release in such a profound way. It then revealed how we can build a trusting community providing much greater awareness and support for each other.”
V. Airisun Wonderli, Charlottesville, VA
“The workshop (intensive) is a unique, experiential and interactive opportunity to discover, explore and transform old patterns/core beliefs that block one from fully experiencing financial abundance in their life. Through this deeper unfolding of personal insights and revelations, one is able to discover what is really going on beneath the surface in creating their financial reality and how those beliefs or attitudes relate to personal creativity and community. Louis and Sandra embody the enthusiasm and inspiration necessary in co-creating a love based approach for both community and finance and provide a safe, nurturing space for participants. This workshop is truly life-changing.”
Patty Snyder, Staunton VA
“The workshop took me to a place of strength and courage. Pushing through the fear of success I have opened my heart to new opportunity of community. Care first of myself was the missing link. I have a better understanding of the dynamics of Care First verses Money First. Louis and Sandra are compassionate leaders and teachers and I highly recommend this transformational healing for the planet.”
Jolly Stickley, Staunton, VA
Louis Bohtlingk is the author for Cosimo’s upcoming book Dare to Care: A Love Based Foundation for Money and Finance to be released in November. The book is filled with a collection of ideas and initiatives that could change the world of finance as we know it.

October is probably best known for the last day of the month, Halloween. Many spend the entire month looking for costumes, drinking pumpkin beverages, putting up scary decorations and preparing for frightful encounters and trick or treating come Halloween night. In honor of Halloween, and the spookiness for which the holiday calls, Cosimo has chosen Mothman and Other Curious Encounters by Loren Coleman as its book of the month.
The Mothman legend was made famous by the movie Mothman Prophecies starring Richard Gere, Debra Messing, Will Patton, and Laura Linney. Legend has it that on November 15, 1966, a huge, red-eyed creature with wings appeared over Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Thirteen months of otherworldly mystery, madness, and mayhem for the people of Point Pleasant ensued, culminating in the collapse of the Silver Bridge, which left 46 dead.
John Keel was the journalist who investigated these strange happenings. His investigation led to his book The Mothman Prophecies published in 1975. Loren Coleman takes a look at Keel’s investigation while looking beyond what Keel found. Coleman studies events that followed the same pattern as the Point Pleasant investigation. Some of these events occurred before, and some after. Regardless the conclusion shows that the incident in Point Pleasant, West Virginia wasn’t the first or last, but part of a series of other strange happenings that culminated with destruction.
According to John Keel, the author of The Mothman Prophecies, “Coleman has produced the most complete overview of Mothman and its minions — the scariest family of monsters on Earth.” So if you enjoy being spooked this book is the perfect choice for your October read.
Loren Coleman is one of the world’s lead crypozoologist. In 1960 he started his fieldwork and after years pursuing cryptozoological mysteries he began writing. He is the author of numerous books of cryptozoology, including Bigfoot!: The True Story of Apes in America and Mothman and Other Curious Encounters.
