Book

A New Year has begun and it’s the perfect time to learn something new. Cosimo’s book of the month Understanding Dreams: The Gateway to Dreams Without Dream Interpretation by Markku Siivola teaches readers how to gain dream insight. Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, seriously curious about understanding the dreams you’ve been having, or just looking to learn something new, this book is a good read and will interest you.

Interpreting dreams can take a lot of training and psychological experience. It’s not accessible for the average person who wakes up wanting some answers. But with Markku Siivola’s book, there is an approachable method anyone can use to access dreams. Through dream groups and the dream group process, a technique invented by dream therapist Montague Ullman and expounded on by Siivola, anyone can gain the skill of understanding what their dreams are saying and how they reflect their daily lives.

Markku Siivola is a doctor of psychiatry who practiced liaison and rehabilitation psychiatry in Finland and Sweden before becoming an approved dream group leader. He has been nominated as an honorary member of the Swedish Dream Group Forum and co-founded the Finnish Dream Group Forum. His works include a Finnish translation of Montague Ullman’s Working with Dreams and the bestselling Unien Opissa, a book of instructions for the dream group process.

Cosimo’s Book of the Month Offers a New Financial Outlook in this Economic Crisis

Dare to Care

Business has always been about listening to your head, taking risks, and being ruthless. We’ve all heard the phrase: “It’s not personal; it’s business”, but now it’s being challenged by Louis Bohtlingk’s new book Dare to Care: A Love-Based Foundation for Money and Finance. Mindful of the current economic climate, Cosimo has chosen Dare to Care as its November Book of the Month.

In this book, Bohtlingk has developed a collection of ideas and initiatives to change business. According to Bohtlingk, changing from a money-first to a care-first attitude, as the book suggests, will stimulate thoughts about our current monetary system and economy making them more functional overall. By offering a different way to run businesses and the financial world with his book Dare to Care: A Love-Based Foundation for Money and Finance, Bohtlingk hopes to change the world of finance as we know it.

The book promotes a vision for a love-based economy and a care-first world. With examples of businesses who work with models similar to his own, Bohtlingk proves how and why this vision could become a reality. His workable method has been developed to help corporations and companies change from their current financial plans, which, for many focus purely on profit, to a new economic outlook that focuses more on supporting each other. Dare to Care encourages readers to approach finance and economics from a new perspective, one which urges them to reorganize their own attitude towards money and empowers them to act and achieve a care-first worldview.

Louis Bohtlingk is a visionary who has worked as a counselor for more than 30 years. With his wife Sandra, he has created multiple platforms with which to address the money issues that individuals and companies experience. Louis is also the creator of the “Meeting the Mystery of Money” workshop, which has been held throughout the U.S., the U.K., and the Netherlands and helps individuals to reorganize their finances and lives with a care-first approach. You can learn more about the work Louis and Sandra do on their website, www.carefirstworld.com.

Louis Bohtlingk, author of Cosimo’s new book Dare to Care: A Love-Based Foundation for Money and Finance, is holding a book signing at the Java Dragon Coffee House in Charlottesville, Virginia from 5:00pm – 7:30pm on Friday November 11, 2011.

Cosimo Picks a Frightful Read for its October Book of the Month

posted by Kristen on 03 Oct 2011 | category: From the Editors, Cosimo News, Book of the Month, Cryptozoology

Mothman Cover

October is probably best known for the last day of the month, Halloween. Many spend the entire month looking for costumes, drinking pumpkin beverages, putting up scary decorations and preparing for frightful encounters and trick or treating come Halloween night. In honor of Halloween, and the spookiness for which the holiday calls, Cosimo has chosen Mothman and Other Curious Encounters by Loren Coleman as its book of the month.

The Mothman legend was made famous by the movie Mothman Prophecies starring Richard Gere, Debra Messing, Will Patton, and Laura Linney. Legend has it that on November 15, 1966, a huge, red-eyed creature with wings appeared over Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Thirteen months of otherworldly mystery, madness, and mayhem for the people of Point Pleasant ensued, culminating in the collapse of the Silver Bridge, which left 46 dead.

John Keel was the journalist who investigated these strange happenings. His investigation led to his book The Mothman Prophecies published in 1975. Loren Coleman takes a look at Keel’s investigation while looking beyond what Keel found. Coleman studies events that followed the same pattern as the Point Pleasant investigation. Some of these events occurred before, and some after. Regardless the conclusion shows that the incident in Point Pleasant, West Virginia wasn’t the first or last, but part of a series of other strange happenings that culminated with destruction.

According to John Keel, the author of The Mothman Prophecies, “Coleman has produced the most complete overview of Mothman and its minions — the scariest family of monsters on Earth.” So if you enjoy being spooked this book is the perfect choice for your October read.

Loren Coleman is one of the world’s lead crypozoologist. In 1960 he started his fieldwork and after years pursuing cryptozoological mysteries he began writing. He is the author of numerous books of cryptozoology, including Bigfoot!: The True Story of Apes in America and Mothman and Other Curious Encounters.

September Book of the Month, Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse

posted by Kristen on 08 Sep 2011 | category: From the Editors, Cosimo News, New Releases, Day to Day, Economics

September is upon us, bringing with it back to school time, brilliant colors, and colder weather. Fall is a transitional season when people tend to leave the lazy, careless days of summer behind and buckle down into a more serious outlook. And from that serious outlook comes our new book of the month: Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse written by The U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

The economic crisis in this country is no secret. There are constant reminders of the unemployment rate, houses are foreclosing faster than ever, and businesses are laying off, cutting back, and shutting down. Financial trouble is all around us, but how many actually know what started it all?

After a two year investigation by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation the report Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse details where the blame should be and why. This report, re-released by Cosimo, with a new foreword from the publisher, takes an in-depth look at Wall Street’s blame in the financial collapse. Outlining four very clear causes of the downturn: high risk mortgage loans, regulation failures, inaccurate AAA credit ratings, and investment bank abuses.

With the gloriously tranquil days of summer behind us, we can no longer ignore the harsh reality of our Country’s financial situation. It’s necessary for us to take a look at the causes. Where are the flaws that allowed this to happen? Can we prevent further damage? And where do we go from here? Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse, can help lead us to the answers.

THE U.S. SENATE PERMANENT SUBCOMMITTEE ON INVESTIGATIONS (PSI) is a bi-partisan team of senators that deals with Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and is currently headed by Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) and Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK). Formerly known as the Committee on Government Operations, PSI is the oldest subcommittee of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Read Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse for more about Wall Street’s role in our country’s Financial Crisis and an in-depth look at the flaws that allowed this to happen.

With this in mind, Cosimo has developed a microsite dedicated to the leading books on UFOs: UFOBookShelf.com. Some of the books presented are by its own authors, such as Left at East Gate: A First-Hand Account of the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident by Larry Warren and Peter Robbins with a new introduction by Budd Hopkins, a pioneer UFO researcher; Crash at Corona, The Definitive Study of the Roswell Incident by Stanton Friedman and Don Berliner; Flying Saucers Over the White House: The Inside Story of Captain Edward J. Ruppelt and His Official U.S. Air Force Investigation of UFOs by Colin Bennett, and Celtic Mysteries: Windows to Another Dimension in America’s Northeast, by Philip Imbrogno. In addition, books by other leading UFO researchers, such as Flying Saucers and Science by Stanton Friedman and Edgar Mitchell, Area 51 by Annie Jacobsen, Strange Secrets, Real Government Files on the Unknown by Nick Redfern and Andy Roberts, and many more will be featured.

The aim of the site is to help those who are interested in UFOs to enrich their knowledge with the best books by the most informed authors. In addition to the featured books and their reviews, this site has many other features, all useful and interesting to those with a passion for ufology or curious about the truth of UFO news reports. There are links to some of the most popular UFO blogs and websites. There is a section dedicated to UFO conspiracies and major UFO incidents will be presented by well-known UFO bloggers and experts.

Based on many requests of its readers, UFOBookShelf.com has been selected to be the first of Cosimo’s specialized micro-sites which will feature books under the umbrella of one fascinating topic. Future micro-sites will include Middle Eastern literature, Civil War history, and reports on the current financial crisis. Stay tuned as we will announce additional micro-sites.

Simple Series Shopping

posted by Cosimo on 17 May 2011 | category: From the Backlist, From the Editors, Cosimo News, Day to Day

Sometimes simpler is better. When things are simple, uncomplicated, easy to figure out, your brain can remain relaxed and at ease. There is nothing wrong with a challenge that forces your brain into overdrive, but when shopping for a book series, that’s not usually the goal.

Shopping for book series, when they’re not already compiled, can be disastrously complicated. Imagine, for instance, that you’re searching the web to find a series, but you can only find books three and seven of a ten-volume set. Or maybe, you actually find the whole series, but all the books are from different publishers, with different covers, different sizes, and different editions. It can be stupendously frustrating. But it doesn’t have to be.

Cosimo Books is currently offering a special on book series. We’ve made it simple to find dozens of popular classic series at discounted prices with FREE SHIPPING! Just go to Cosimo Books Collections and Series, and you’ll see the work is already done. The series have been compiled, with uniform covers, for your shopping ease. You can find everything from Arabian Nights, Curiosities of Natural History, The Ante-Nicene Fathers, and The Works of Thomas Jefferson. So, save the arduous thinking for something that actually merits it and keep your book shopping simple.
